Cross Country started practice August 11th. This summer the team collectively logged over 1,100 miles of running in preparation for the season. Our HS Boys team will feature 7 total runners this season and our HS Girls team will have 7 as well. In JH the team consists of 6 boys and 3 girls. The team will run 8 races total this year, every Thursday from August 28th through Districts @ Branched Oak on October 15th.
The Mustang cross country team is already off to the races this season. After previewing their tactics at the Fall Sports kickoff on the future Raymond Central cross country course on campus, the team took their talents to the Dale Nielsen Invitational at Timber Point hosted by East Butler. Allyson Tvrdy, Teagan Schomer, Shyanne Leggett, Sam Norlen, and Eli Zobel all took home individual medals. The boys team consisting of Sam Norlen, Eli Zobel, Lyliend DiCaprio, Deacon Christensen, and Henry Tvrdy took home runners-up honors in the boys race with 62 points, with Palmyra winning with a score of 14. The girls team of Allyson Tvrdy, Teagan Schomer, Shyanne Leggett, Jasmine Siverina, Zaylee Kring, Morghan Shultz, and Marissa Tvrdy captured the girls team title, narrowly outscoring David City Aquinas 31-34. Eight junior high runners also opened their season, with Kyson Effle, Thomas Schulte, Will Bartels, Thomas Norlen, Preston Zugemier, Cameron Hoelk, Stella Backer, and Charlotte Wolfe crossing the line for the Mustangs
