2023 Art Club President Mae Masek

Mae Masek is the President of the Art Club and one of the founding members. She said that founding the Art Club changed her life and helped her gain the confidence to pursue art as a career. Working with the members to organize art shows, prepare for art competitions, and plan field trips together has taught her that working together towards a collective goal is empowering. She directly said, "The Art Club would not have accomplished these achievements without every member's help. Our deep bond helped me open up to others and trust my peers to give a hand. Extracurricular activities like the Art Club have shaped me into the passionate, determined, and hardworking person that I am today."

About Mae: With these skills she has gained, she is eager to start studying at the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) in the Fall of 2024. She is passionate about becoming a professional illustrator to collaborate with artists on projects for movies, video games, or animated media. The collaborative skills she has gained in the Art Club have given her a head-start in her career, and she is incredibly excited to explore the internship programs through SCADPro to possibly work with Google, YouTube, NASA, and more.

Art Club: With her final semester as the Art Club President, the club is in the process of planning some big final events. The school will be holding the NCC Conference Art Show on April 9th, where 9 schools will display their art here, have their work judged, and partake in activities they have organized. Alongside that, they will have their end-of-the-year school Art Show on April 26th, with a possible collaboration with the elementary school. Please look forward to the future events being held by the Art Club, and consider joining our community to celebrate and spread creativity at our school!
