2023 Mustang Band

All the bands have been hard at work this semester. The HS band has done a great job working on their tone and blend as we start this new semester. They all work so hard and bring a lot of energy to their performances, which is very exciting. We have our last two basketball pep band dates on Tuesday, January 30th, and February 6th. February 6th is an "All Are Welcome" Pep Band, where the 6-8 band students, staff, parents, and alumni are invited to come play with the HS Band. I'm very excited for people to come together as a community and perform wonderful music together.

In terms of concerts, the HS Pops Concert has been moved to Thursday, February 22nd, and the final spring concert is Tuesday, April 30th. The HS Band will also perform at the District Music Contest on April 18/19th, along with a few students performing solos for judging. We also have 9 members who were selected to the Nebraska Capital Conference Honor Band on March 4th, and on January 27th three students had an amazing performance at the Wayne State Honor Band. The band has been very active and I'm extremely proud of them for doing an amazing job representing this band and this school.

The 6th grade and JH bands have also been hard at work this semester learning new music and working on their sound together. Their sound gets a little more mature each day, which is very exciting. Each band will perform at the Malcolm Music Contest on March 15th, along with a few solos/duets, and their final concert is Thursday, April 26th.

The 5th grade has been doing an amazing job getting better each day as they continue to learn new instruments and play together. The 3-5 music concert is on Tuesday, May 7th.

Overall, Mrs. Graue says she is extremely proud of all the band students. It's always hard getting used to a new band director, but I'm grateful they have welcomed me in, and continue to work hard and get a little better each day together. They all have done amazing work, and continue to have a lot of potential, and I'm excited to continue to help grow this program.
