2023 Mustang Basketball

Boys basketball started their conditioning week last week (11/6). Mr. Svehla said "it was good getting the boys together and in one place.  The gym was full of energy!  This week is the start of official practice.  As of Thursday, we have had better days of practice each day and the boys are working hard."  The fun part is that they are all selfless and want to win more than anything.  The goal is to make the program something that the boys, families, and community can be proud of.  And the boys have done a good job so far of having pride in every rep and drill they do.

Upcoming events; On Nov. 27th we have our Jamboree at Fairbury High School.  Our first real game, and home opener, is on December 1st vs. David City Aquinas.  We would love to see the community and student body come out to support us!

Strengths; In terms of strengths, Mr. Svehla said, "I feel as if we have a very coachable group.  When a coach gives instruction, they do the task to the best of their ability.  Another strength of this group is that they are not afraid to fail. To learn and grow, people have to fail.  Our boys aren't afraid to do that and they are tough mentally and physically.  Lastly, this group is motivated.  They realize it is their time and they are taking advantage of it every day in practice."

Mr. Svehla's final words of encouragement; Nothing to talk about here really.  It's just exciting being back in the gym with a group of selfless, fun, hard-working dudes.
