Summer Food Service Program
Raymond Central Public Schools is anticipating approval for our first Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) beginning Monday, June 15, 2020. The nation-wide program is designed to serve FREE meals to ALL children 18 years and under during the summer season. Due to the continued threat level of COVID-19, Raymond Central completed a hardship waiver through the Nebraska Department of Education to seek reimbursement for the summer food service program. Due to the current waiver timeline, which we hope will be extended, there will only be 3 weeks of meals provided. We will know more in the next couple of weeks if the State of Nebraska determines to continue the foodservice program into the month of July.
The FREE program will allow for food pickup each Monday at a designated location. Our goal is to pre-package food for the entire week and have it available for pickup on Mondays at 11:30 AM. Each lunch will have the required five USDA components, which are milk, fruit, vegetable, meat/meat alternative, and grain. If a lack of transportation is a barrier for participation in the summer food program, the school district will provide volunteers to deliver the food.
All families are encouraged to participate in this program. The USDA estimates over 200 million lunches will be served across the country this summer.
