Behavior Plans

In order to have a successful year I feel that it is necessary to develop a safe and positive learning environment in our classroom and school. In order to do this I have some expectations that I hope all the students will follow. I would like to share them with you so that you are aware of them. I have also listed some of the positive rewards that we have and the consequences that will occur when the rules are not followed.

We are going to continue using the card system for any behavior problems during the year. Each student is given four cards and when they choose not to follow the rules they will have a card pulled. Each day the child starts fresh with a green card. Below I have listed the card and the consequence for each one.

*I will keep documentation of repeat incidences and let you know if there seems to be a consistent problem. In certain cases another type of behavior plan may need to be developed.

Second Grade Grading Policy

The report card that we use in second grade has changed over the last couple of years. A team of teachers met and developed a report card that matched the State Standards. Students will be given a score based on their performance during the quarter in each area they have been taught. I will be keeping samples of the student’s work throughout the year in a portfolio as documentation to show and assess growth throughout the year. I will also be assessing the students by rubrics, personal writing assignments, reading sessions with me, and by the CRA’s that test the Nebraska State standards.
