    S. Hlavaty has been a member of the Raymond Central Schools since 1994 when she was hired as the Title I Reading/Reading Support teacher at the Valparaiso building.  She has her
B.S. and M.ED. from the University of NE-Lincoln. 

 

    The Title I Reading and Reading Support program provides personalized instruction in addition to the regular classroom program.  The Title I program receives federal funds to support its operation. The school district supplements the program.  Students who are in the program are performing below grade level in the area of reading.
 
    Title I serves students in grades 1-3.  The students receive instruction based on their individual needs.  Students read books that are leveled to their instruction needs.  For example, a first grade student may begin in level A books and progress from there.  Projects are also done after some units.
 

Title I Reading Goals:

  • Accelerate students' reading through small group instruction.

  • Provide students with specific strategies and skills to match their individual needs.

  • Build students classroom learning through individualized instruction.

  • Support home literacy through book bag program and parent involvement.
