Notes from Music Class ! |
February 8, 2011
Dear Parents/Guardians,
On Thursday, February 10, the 6th Grade is taking a trip to see the Lincoln Symphony Orchestra. It is their annual Young People’s Concert that is put on for elementary age students. They will have the opportunity to hear a professional orchestra play widely recognized and appreciated pieces such as Vivaldi’s “Spring” and “Storm” by Beethoven.
Since it is a professional orchestra, students should dress nicely. At a rock concert, the bands typically wear jeans and a t-shirt, so that is what is acceptable attire for an audience member. Professional orchestras dress up, typically in dresses and tuxes, so we need to dress up as well. I would request they wear nice clothes to the concert, specifically no jeans, t-shirts, or sweats. However, if this is a problem, I would rather your son/daughter be able to attend than not come at all because of the clothes.
This should be a great educational experience. Thanks for your support!
