The Second Class has been very busy this year We have been working hard and learning a variety of new skills. Please check back often to see what is new in our classroom.
Reading- We are getting ready to start Unit 4 in our reading series. We will continue to work on verbs over the next few weeks. We will also be working on comparing and contrasting stories and characters and cause and effect. All of the students have come a long way on their fluency scores, but we still have room for growth.
Spelling- Remember each week that there is 4 or 5 days of school we will have a spelling test. The words will get sent home with your child on Monday. Please take the time to help them practice their words.
Math- Addition and Subtraction has continued to be the focus in our classroom. Now our problems are getting harder and we have learned how to borrow and regroup on 2 digit addition problems and will be starting double digit subtraction with borrowing over the next few weeks. The kids are doing pretty well on this skill. We still need to continue practicing our basic addition and subtraction facts. Being able to recall the answers to the facts makes it a lot easier to complete double digit problems.
Unit Studies- We will be starting a new unit in Social Studies in January. We will be talking about goods and services along with wants and needs.
