The village government consists of five members.  They are elected at a general organizational 
meeting held in December.  The new members are voted in by the existing board members.  The new 
members serve a four-year term which is staggered, three go off at one time and then two the next.
The village board meets every second Tuesday of each month at 7:00 p.m.

According to the 1990 census of the city of Valparaiso, 481 people are in the community.
