Procedure for Selection to National Honor Society

A student is selected to membership in National Honor Society based on the areas of Scholarship, Service/Activities, Leadership, and Character.

Scholarship--After three semesters in high school, any student with a cumulative grade point average of at least 90% is eligible for selection.

Service/Activities--A student must be involved in school or community activities (clubs, organizations, sports teams) and must have community service involvement (such as teaching Sunday School, serving at community suppers, highway clean-up, water testing).

Leadership--Students serve as officers, committee chairman on a committee within an organization, or a rank leader.

Character--A person of character demonstrates the following six qualities: respect, responsibility, trustworthiness, fairness, caring, and citizenship.

Each student eligible for selection to National Honor Society will be evaluated on a scale of 1-4 (with 4 being highest) by faculty members and sponsors/coaches who have contact with the student during the current year.

After the Student Information Sheet and Faculty Character Evaluations have been completed, the Faculty Council, which is composed of five teachers appointed by the principal, will meet to select members for the Raymond Central Chapter of National Honor Society. The National Honor Society Advisor is not a member of the Faculty Council but serves as the moderator of the Council.
