A Message From Coach Houchin

From Coach Houchin – new FB coach at Raymond Central,

Hello, 2018 Mustang Football players and families! I’m honored to have been chosen to be the new Head Football Coach at Raymond Central High School! We will have a parent meeting with tons of information to share before the end of the school year, but for now, I have an important matter that cannot wait until then. We need to get signed up for our annual team football camp for the summer and spots are filling quickly around the region, so it’s time to get that booked ASAP. This year, we are planning to attend a 3-day team camp at the University of South Dakota (Vermillion, SD) at the end of July (7/26 – 7/28). There will be much more information to share in the coming weeks, but for now please mark this date on your calendars for the summer and plan to attend. Cost is $185 per camper, which is very reasonable for everything that comes with this experience. We will fundraise over the summer to help offset camp costs, with the goal to be able to cover the cost entirely. However, we must register very soon, or we risk losing a spot at camp. Please communicate with myself and/or Mr. Wilmes if this is an issue. We do not want finances to be the roadblock for not attending camp this summer! At the present time, I am asking you to register ASAP with the intent of being reimbursed before the start of the season this Fall.

I have attended similar camps over the course of my coaching career as a coach in other programs, and I can say without question that this is one of the most valuable and enjoyable experiences of the entire year for our players and staff. Please do your best to make this a high priority over the summer. In truth, from a football standpoint, this is the second most important activity that we can participate in during the entire off-season…behind committing to the strength and conditioning program over the summer! The opportunity to grow in our relationships with each other through this camp experience is extremely valuable and the environment to prepare for the upcoming season will be top notch. I’ve met much of the current staff at USD and I can attest that they are great men who genuinely care about providing the best camp experience for our young men. Facilities are fantastic and our players will enjoy getting away and having a great time together! Again, I cannot stress enough the importance of attending this camp and it’s correlation to making this season a success on many levels!
