SAE 2009 Engineering Scholarships

 

To Attend:  Engineering and related sciences program

Must have ACT between 21-24 or SAT 1500-1650; write an essay about why you would like to stay in Nebraska after graduation; be full-time student; high school senior

Principal’s Leadership Award/National Association of Secondary School Principals

Amount:   $1,000.00 - $12,000.00

 

Requirements:

 High school Senior / Must have strong leadership skills which can be documented by participation in school activities and service organizations and clubs, achievements in the arts and sciences, employment experiences and academic record.

Amount:   $250-local    $1,000-state     $10,000-national

 

To Attend: 

An Accredited institution of higher education  ( Jr/Comm/Tech College or University)

 

Requirements  

3.0 GPA / support the preservation of the hunting tradition and actively participate in hunting, sports.  A copy of current hunting license is required.

Gates Millennium Scholars Program…Nomination Forms

Amount:  Varies – based on need, generally pays for full cost of college expenses

Any accredited college – full time status

 

Requirements:

Must be of African American, Native American, Hispanic American, or Pacific Islander heritage; must have a minimum 3.3 GPA; must qualify for a PELL Grant (demonstrated financial need); must be a citizen or permanent U.S. resident

Amount:  $2000 tuition waiver per year for two years

Requirements:

High School seniors who:  maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher; works part-time an average of 15 hrs per week or 40 weeks per year; actively involved in community service; and demonstrate financial need.

Mid-West Student Exchange Program (MSEP)
Amount:  Reduced Tuition at Participating Colleges (usually 50% of the out-of-state fee)

 

To Attend:  Selected programs at colleges in Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Wisconsin, North Dakota or Missouri

 

Requirements:

NEBRASKA AGRI-WOMEN SCHOLARSHIP

Amount:  $250

 

To attend:  College or technical trade school in Nebraska only.

 

Requirements:  Pursue an ag-related degree.  Can be male or female.  Must complete the first semester of college schooling and have at least a “C” average to receive the scholarship money.

WAYNE STATE ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE SCHOLARSHIP

Amount:  Full tuition

 

To attend:  Wayne State College

 

Requirements:  Attend Wayne State College, maintain a 3.3 overall GPA at Wayne State.

NEBRASKA ACADEMY OF SCIENCES SCHOLARSHIP

Amount:  Up to $10,000

Requirements:  Graduating high school senior, demonstrates entrepreneurial spirit and initiative through examples such as starting his/her own business; participating in DECA, Junior Achievement, FBLA, FFA, National Foundation for Teaching Entrepreneurship.  An officially established business is not a requirement.

RURAL HEALTH OPPORTUNITIES PROGRAM (WAYNE STATE)  (RHOP)

 

RHOP is a partnership between Wayne State and University of NE Medical Center.  It is for students who wish to apply for early admission to Medicine, Dentistry, Dental Hygiene, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Pharmacy degree program.

 

To attend:  Wayne State College

 

Requirements:  Academic preparation and potential of student, a rural background, a commitment to return to the rural areas to practice, a biography of why the student wants to be in the program.  ACT score should be in the 20 and above range for Dental hygiene and Clinical Lab Science; and 25 and above range for Medicine, Pharmacy, and Dentistry.

Requirements:  This is great—there aren’t any.  It is a random drawing, and all you have to do is register.

AMERICAN LEGION AUXILIARY NATIONAL PRESIDENT’S SCHOLARSHIP

Amount:  1 @ $2,500; 1 @ $2,000; 1 @ $1,000

 

To attend:  any post secondary school

 

Requirements:  candidates must be direct descendants, step-children or step-grandchildren of US wartime veterans who served during one or more of the periods of war officially designated as eligibility dates for membership in The American Legion.  Applicants must be seniors, and must have completed 50 hours of volunteer work.

AMERICAN LEGION AUXILIARY SPIRIT OF YOUTH SCHOLARSHIP FOR JUNIOR MEMBERS

Requirements:  Applicants must have been or currently be a Junior Member of the American Legion Auxiliary and she must have the membership for the current year.  In addition, she must remain a current member during the 4 years of the scholarship.

AMERICAN LEGION AUXILIARY RUBY PAUL CAMPAIGN FUND SCHOLARSHIP

 

Requirements:  Candidate must be a son, daughter, granddaughter, grandson, great-granddaughter or great-grandson of  an American Legion or Auxiliary member who has held Nebraska membership for 2 years.  Must have been a Nebraska resident for the previous 3 years.  Must maintain a “B” average the last 2 semesters of high school.
