Description: In this beginning art class the student will explore making
art, study art history, interpret art and learn to appreciate art.
They will have an opportunity to work in a variety of media. First
Semester: Focus on perspective, portrait, still life drawing,
realistic painting, printmaking, and with some work in sculpture and/ or
crafts. |

| Advanced Art | ||
| Description: In this advanced art class the student uses techniques learned in beginning art to work more in-depth with realistic and abstract art projects. They will have an opportunity to focus on studio production while advancing their level of mastery and developing an individualistic style. This class gives the student an opportunity to develop a strong portfolio to show at college. | ||

| Ceramics | ||
| Description: In this introductory class the student will concentrate on the basics of hand building, wheel throwing, and decorating techniques using low-fire clay. They will work on several projects and will also be exposed to the basics of loading, firing, and unloading the kiln. | ||

| Advanced Ceramics | ||
| Description: In this advanced ceramics class the student focuses on perfecting their wheel throwing skills, combining the hand building techniques, and creating pot with handles and lids. They will work on both functional and nonfunctional projects. | ||

| Independent Study Art | ||
| Description: To take this advanced class, the student must be a senior and receive permission from the art instructor. The student and the instructor will work together to develop a contrast of projects in fine arts, ceramics, or photography. | ||

| Photography | ||
| Description: In this beginning photography class the student will use a 35mm camera to take black and white photographs with good composition. They will learn basic camera operations, take a variety of pictures, develop negatives, and develop photographs using the darkroom. | ||

| Advanced Photography | ||
| Description: In this advanced photography class the student will use the basic skills learned in beginning photography and will focus on learning the operation of a 35mm manual camera. They will have specific assignments, techniques and special effects to explore with some exposure to digital photography. | ||

| Art 7 | ||
| Description: This quarter class offers the student an opportunity to explore a variety of art media. Besides class discussions, written assignments on art history, art criticism, and art aesthetics, there are art projects which include design, drawing, painting, printmaking, and sculpture. There is no fee for the class. | ||
